Husband and wife team Ali and Roger Arnold ran their mail order business Vintage Fabric from their home in Gloucestershire for many years, now located in Abergavenny.
Ali has collected fabric since the 60s for sewing projects, just the love of it. Quite a stock had built up over the years, and having decided to clear out the cupboards, but got hooked selling odd pieces on Ebay. That’s how it started. Now the local post office is kept busy dealing with orders all over the world.
Recycling is an important part of the business, turning beautiful old curtains into perfect pieces for re-use by cleaning and trimming faded parts. Searching for such curtains as well as other interesting fabric lengths has been a great excuse for spending tome together exploring small towns and villages in the area and abroad as well as searching for treasure at flea markets.
Customers include – television and theatre companies, museums, upholsterers, furniture restorers, quilters, crafters, interior designers, dress makers and fabric collectors.
Vintage fabric has often been used and loved before or stored for many years. It is laundered when necessary and always checked for damage, holes or fading, leaving the fabric clean and fresh and ready to use. If there are any faults it will say so in the description.
Fabric is sold by mail order keeping prices as low as possible for hard to find material. Ideal for making cushions to matching existing curtains, patchwork quilts, craft work, and dress making or just to add to your fabric collection.
